Medical Officer

Under the supervision of the Senior Clinician the post holder will be required to attend to the in-patients on a daily basis and to work on a shift rota in conjunction with the other Medical Officers and clinical research fellows to cover the unit out of hours.

MB BS or equivalent medical qualification. • Significant post-graduate experience, with preference given to paediatric and general medicine. • Excellent written and spoken English • Experience of supervising staff • Good record keeping skills • The ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team • Excellent communication skills • Ability to deal sensitively with patients • Basic computer literacy Desirable • Interest in clinical research into the diseases of the tropics • Basic understanding of medical audits • Willingness to work flexi-time Additional Information The post-holder will be based in The Gambia at the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia at The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Fajara. An attractive salary commensurate with qualification and experience will be paid, and in Dalasi. The appointment will be up to 31st March 2027 initially and subject to a probationary period of 6 months.
